Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Hi, Could you give us some specifics regarding what you are having issue with? Have you for example followed the steps here:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/documentation/vod/streaming.html...

Perhaps you can list what you have done in steps, what your expected result is and what your error is.

Kind regards,

Will.

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Hi,

Could you provide a little more feedback on your project?

Are you using the Marketplace image? This comes pre-installed with a demo, opening the hostname in a browser should work and get you this:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/installation/verify.html...

How to work with subtitles is described here:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/documentation/vod/subtitles.html...

I hope this helps

Yes im using the image from marketplace. I have gone through the documentation but confused where to write these commands such that on video request from client i can automatically generate my custom mpd file.

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Hi,

Could you perhaps tell us a little bit about you project and your company?

Content serving is done by the webserver, so files should be accessible from the 'document root'.

It requires knowledge of how to work with apache:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/urlmapping.html...

Once the webserver can find your mp4, the MPD (DASH) is generated dynamically on client request.

I hope this helps

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

I got that, My question is will the server generate mpd file with multiple bitrates by itself? and how will it pick the subtitles ? I have seen the mpd file generate by the server which contains segments for one bitrate.

If server doesn't do this by default how can I configure the server to do so. As I have videos for multiple bitrates and 3 subtitles files.

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Hi,

The server will generate the mpd with all bitrates by itself, provided that

- all bit rates are in a single mp4

or

- all bitrates are listed in a 'server manifest', this you have to create

Please have a look at this tutorial:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/tutorials/getting-started-with-vo...

I hope this helps

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Thank you, So I have to generate ismv files for each bitrate, an isma file, combine them to a single ism file and host it. Is this the solution you were suggesting ?

If so mp4split --license-key=/etc/usp-license.key -o example.ismv movie-720-eng.mp4 is generating X-USP-Error: package: no policy for packaging

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Hi,

It would be

mp4split --license-key=/etc/usp-license.key -o example.ism movie-720-eng.mp4 another-bitrate.mp4 another-bitrate.mp4

- notice the extension is ISM not ISMV

Client urls you determine following this:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/documentation/vod/player-urls.htm...

Re: How to configure adaptive streaming and subtitles

Thank you, solution worked out.

Im having issue with the mpd file generation. The issue is minBandwidth and maxBandwidth being same in the adaptive set of the generated mpd file.
