Help understanding HSS

Do I have to create separate individual bundles of audio/video when packaging for HSS?

I don't understand why I would create separate files with differing bitrates:
mp4split --timescale=10000000 -o video_400k.ismv video_400k.mp4 audio_aac-lc.mp4
mp4split --timescale=10000000 -o video_800k.ismv video_800k.mp4 audio_he-aac.mp4

when I could just do them all at once into a single .ismv like this:
mp4split --timescale=10000000 -o video_all.ismv video_400k.mp4 audio_aac-lc.mp4 video_800k.mp4 audio_aac.mp4 audio_ac3.mp4

And after I create these, why would I also create an mp4 file like this?
mp4split -o video_800k.mp4 video_800k.mp4 audio_he-aac.mp4

Where is this new mp4 file used? This mp4 file is not referenced in the documentation again. Is it required to have both the ismv and mp4 file for IIS to serve content?

Re: Help understanding HSS

Hi,

Are you referring to what is outlined here:

http://docs.unified-streaming.com/documentation/package/iss.html...

The example is about working with different audio codecs and using an mp4 for progressive download.

Could you please repost your question to support[at]unified-streaming[dot]com?
